Paris Baguette a bakery brand operated by SPC Group,
entered the first overseas market by opening its first store in Shanghai, China in September 2004. Since then, it has advanced into the United States, Vietnam, Singapore, France, Canada, Cambodia operating a total of 400 overseas stores. Thus, the group has brought worldwide publicity to the excellence of Korean bakery. In 2019, we further succeeded in acquiring the right to operate the Shake Shack brand in Singapore, and we are gradually increasing local stores. Going forward, SPC Group will accelerate its global business expansion, as by planning to enter Canada and Cambodia.

Expansion of business in Southeast Asia
such as Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia
Paris Baguette entered China with its first store in Shanghai in 2004, and successfully set food in Nanjing in 2011 as the first instance for the South Korean bakery industry. We are continuing our growth by expanding business bases continually in Dalian and other places. In 2016, we entered Chengdu, Sichuan Province, which was an emerging high-tech city. We have been actively investing, building a 2,800㎡ SPC Tianjin Plant, which covers the area of 3 soccer fields, , in Tianjin City’s “Xicheng Economic and Technological Development Zone” in 2019. In particular, as a result of the effort that we made in the franchise business as part of an active localization strategy, we built stable business operation system and know-how by having more than two-thirds of the local stores as franchisees rather than directly managed. Currently, about 300 “Paris Baguette” stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, and Dalian are in operation. The network will expand to all over China, including Chongqing and Guangdong, major cities in the southwest.
The 'Paris Baguette' brand established a local company to advance into the United States in 2002. Opening its first store in Korea Town of LA in October 2005, it currently operates 90 stores across the country. Since 2013, we have opened 12 stores in Manhattan, including Times Square, Midtown, and Upper West Side in New York, strengthening local brand awareness. We have successfully settled in each regional base through the development of locally optimized products and marketing activities in consideration of the market characteristics of each state and city in the United States. The brand further aims to open 2,000 stores across the United States by 2030. Utilizing the business know-how in North America that we have accumulated through our past operations in the United States, we will actively expand our franchise business in Canada with the goal of installing more than 100 local stores by 2030. We plan to open our first stores in major cities such as Toronto and Vancouver as early as the first half of 2021.
SPC Group opened the Paris Baguette Cao Tang store in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2012, signaling its advancement into Southeast Asia. It entered Singapore in August of the same year and Hanoi in November, laying the groundwork for advancement into Southeast Asia. In Vietnam, the group opened stores in Korean commercial districts in the early days of its business and identified market trends and consumer needs for many years. Since then, the group has also opened stores in local commercial areas, establishing its position as a high-end bakery for locals. In Singapore, the group provides products and services that are one notch higher than that of existing bakeries, playing the role of a flagship in Southeast Asia. In 2014, the group became the first Korean company to enter Singapore's Changi International Airport. As a result of continuous effort to enter new Southeast Asian countries other than Vietnam and Singapore, we signed a joint venture contract with HSC Group, a local company in Cambodia, in 2019, and successfully opened the first store in Cambodia in May 2021. Looking ahead, the group will expand Paris Baguette throughout Southeast Asia through partnerships with various partners in other Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.
Based on the excellent bakery technology and know-how that represented Korea, SPC Group went full steam with its business in Paris, France, the birthplace of the brand name of “Paris Baguette” and the home of bread in 2014. At that time, the first Korean bakery brand's arrival in France was a hot topic. As the local market is significant as a bridgehead for our expansion into various francophone countries as well as the other parts of European market, our business in France has grown, living up to our great expectations. Thanks to the success of the Paris Baguette “Chatelet”, the first store in Paris, France, we opened the second store in Saint-Michel. We are reaping a positive local response by introducing Korea's original café culture and diverse bakery menu.
